CBD, which stands for cannabidiol, is often mistaken for THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). While they both come from the same family, and both can be found in cannabis, they are completely different in other aspects.

Firstly, and most importantly, even if CBD is considered to be a psychoactive substance, an individual will not get high while taking the CBD dominant medication. The opposite situation will happen to an individual taking the THC dominant medical marijuana – they are most probably going to get high from it. Another difference is their origin. While THC is extracted from the marijuana plant, CBD is extracted from hemp, which closely related to cannabis.

CBD helps in treating many diseases, such as insomnia, chronic pain or even epilepsy. Studies have shown that in the case of people with epilepsy who were taking it, CBD has either minimized or completely eliminated seizures. Remember to order CBD products from trusted vendors.

So, how to use CBD, and is it legal?

In the United States, hemp products are legal in all 50 states, 31 of them have legalized the medical use of marijuana and in 9 states, recreational use of it is legal. EU law states that CBD products are legal if they contain less than 0.2% THC. The aspect of legalization varies from country to country and can be confusing.

When it comes to using CPD, there are various forms in which you can use is. CBD pain cream that you put directly on the place that hurts, or CBD oil that you absorb by putting it under your tongue – these are just a few ways. There is even vegan chocolate that contains 10 milligrams of active hemp extract.

CBD Industry

CBD industry is growing day by day. In 2016, the sales of CBD amounted to $262.2 million. It is said that by 2024 the industry will reach the amount of $22 billion. The industry itself,  and the demand that is present right now for CBD products have not only given the already existing companies a chance to create new product lines but also for new ones to get in the game.

However, since it’s a new industry, a lot of things still lack federal regulations. The most visible issue is when it comes to banks and financial institutions. A lot of banks have doubt if working with CBD companies is legal, although recently, members of Congress added an amendment to Secure And Fair Enforcement (SAFE) Banking Act, confirming that it is in fact legal.

CBD-infused clothing is already a thing

Since there are already so many products containing CBD, it was just a matter of time until some brand decided to use it in their clothing. Acabada, a brand known for producing activewear, just launched a new, 12-piece limited collection of CBD-infused workout clothes.

How do they work? The clothes contain microcapsules filled with only pure CBD – it does not contain any THC. The microcapsules are placed in specific spots in order to help reduce pain and inflammation. The CBD is released when you start working out and is absorbed into your body through the skin.

The clothes are supposed to last 40 wash-and-wear cycles. After that, the customers have an option to recycle their garments through the brand’s upcycling program, getting in return a 30% discount for the next purchase.

What next?

Now, that Acabada made the first move, it is very probable that more fashion brands will try to get into CBD industry. On Amazon, you can already find CBS-infused socks. The industry will grow more and more, and new products will be added. Maybe in 5 years, we will be able to dress completely in CBD-infused clothing? Who knows.

Right now, products containing CBD are only being sold online and in stores, but the mainstream retailers are slowly introducing CBD products into their offer. Mainstream retailers mean more orders, which means production on a larger scale, and that means lower prices. Retailers such as American Eagle or Abercrombie are already partnering with companies producing CBD-infused body-care, and are planning on starting to sell it in their stores.

CBD has been present everywhere for the last couple of months. Often mistaken with THC, CBD has many medical benefits for people struggling with insomnia or epilepsy. The substance’s legal status varies from country to country. CBD industry is young, so a lot of things are still questionable. Despite its age, the industry is growing very quickly.

There are a lot of products containing CBD, including oils, pain cream or food. Acabada was the first brand to ever produce CBS-infused clothing – their line ProActiveWear includes 12 pieces like sweatshirts, sports bras, and leggings. The clothes help in reducing pain while working out.

Now, that someone has made the first move, the collaboration between fashion brands and CBD producers will only grow. Maybe one day these products will be available in every grocery store? Only time will tell.
